Sat Shah Is Back: Former Sportsnet 650 Host Announces New Daily Vancouver Sports Show
Former Sportsnet 650 host Sat Shah returns with a new weekday sports show on Sick Media, launching October 26 with Canucks coverage and post-game analysis.

One of Vancouver's most familiar sports voices is returning to the microphone.
Satiar "Sat" Shah announced today that he is launching The Sat Shah Show, a new weekday sports program powered by Montreal-based Sick Media. The show will debut Monday, October 26, at 4 p.m. Pacific, with live weekday broadcasts and additional post-game coverage of the Vancouver Canucks.
The announcement comes just over three months after Sportsnet 650, Vancouver's last dedicated sports radio station, abruptly shut down in July. Shah was among the familiar personalities affected by the closure, bringing an end to his nine-year run with the station.
Shah joined Sportsnet 650 when it launched in 2017 after previously working at TSN 1040. Over the years, he became a familiar voice to Canucks fans, hosting Canucks Central, providing post-game analysis and regularly appearing on Sportsnet television broadcasts.
His new show brings him back to the same 4 p.m. time slot he occupied at Sportsnet 650, although this time fans will be tuning in online rather than turning on their radios.
According to Broadcast Dialogue, Sick Media reached out to Shah immediately after Sportsnet 650 closed. The new program will feature discussion about the Canucks, the NHL and sports beyond hockey.
The move also marks another chapter in the evolution of Vancouver's sports media landscape. While the city no longer has a dedicated sports radio station, several familiar voices have found success through independent digital programming and alternative broadcast platforms.
Matt Sekeres and Blake Price have established a popular daily sports show since leaving traditional radio in 2021, while Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal continue to entertain audiences with Donnie & Dhali: The Team on CHEK. Both programs have helped demonstrate that local sports conversation can thrive outside conventional sports radio.
More recently, former Sportsnet 650 morning hosts Mike Halford and Jason Brough reunited on Daily Faceoff Vancouver, while Jamie Dodd joined Jeff Paterson on Rink Wide Vancouver. Together, these programs have helped give Vancouver sports fans a growing selection of familiar personalities and fresh perspectives.
Shah's return adds another established voice to that lineup, this time with the backing of Sick Media, which operates more than 25 sports podcasts and is expanding its presence across Canada's NHL markets.
For Vancouver sports fans, the changing landscape offers more ways to follow their favourite teams, from live YouTube broadcasts to podcasts and traditional television programming. The loss of Sportsnet 650 was undoubtedly significant, but the continued emergence of independent programming suggests the appetite for local sports coverage remains strong.
The Sat Shah Show premieres October 26 at 4 p.m. Pacific. Fans can follow the new program on YouTube ahead of its debut.
